Statement on red-tagging of PLM

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) was once again the subject of unscrupulous allegations made by a high official of the military, particularly of the NTF-ELCAC. According to reports circulating in the mass media, the military has identified the PLM as a recruitment haven for the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA). This is the second time the same official attempted to put the PLM in a bad light by red-tagging.

No one had a 2020 vision of what this year that is about to end would bring. Our experiences have been difficult but we have a lot more to be grateful for and be hopeful of this coming year. The pandemic spared no one. PLM lost some lives and some got seriously ill from the virus.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought difficult times for everybody. Reports of rapid infection rates in Metro Manila and grim prospects for a worst-case scenario have led the national government to declare the National Capital Region under a “community quarantine” with classes suspended from March 15 to April 14.
