The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila proudly welcomed new first year students at the College of Medicine on Friday, September 3, 2021.

These aspiring doctors heeded the call for more health workers who will serve the country in the future. Pursuing medicine is relevant now more than ever as the country continues to battle the debilitating COVID-19 crisis.

Dean Dr. Angeline Alabastro led the welcoming event by introducing the vision and mission of PLM and of the College of Medicine for the students, emphasizing their commitment to “excellence in community-oriented medical education, training, research, and service.”

College Secretary Dr. Walter Juarez also briefed them about various scholarships and financial support which they may avail of, subject to certain criteria.

“We are happy and proud to welcome the newest members of the CM family. Despite the pandemic, you have all bravely pursued your dream of becoming medical doctors,” PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said.

“As we pray for collective health and healing, we trust that your education here in PLM will provide you the necessary training to be professional and passionate medical practitioners.”

The College of Medicine is one of the best performing educational institutions in the Philippines and is consistently producing a higher-than-average passing rate in licensure examinations.
