The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) on Wednesday again hosted a COVID-19 vaccination activity to better protect its faculty and staff, as well as their dependents, against severe COVID-19.

The University Activity Center on Wednesday was converted into a temporary vaccination site for 110 employees and 86 dependents to administer booster shots using vaccines produced by American firm Moderna. A total of 196 individuals received their booster shots.

This follows an earlier initiative in 2021 when employees and their family members received their first two Sinovac vaccine shots with the assistance of the City Government of Manila.

“PLM continues to promote the vaccination of all eligible faculty, staff, students, and their kin as the country charts its path towards the so-called New Normal. Science has proven that vaccines are safe and effective in preventing severe COVID-19 symptoms, hospitalization, and death,” University President Emmanuel Leyco said.

Strict health protocols were observed at the open-air venue. An ambulance was also on standby in case any vaccine recipient experiences adverse side effects.
