The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) beams with pride as one of its graduates won a gold medal for the Philippines in the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Jay-ar De Castro, who earned his Bachelor of Physical Education degree at PLM, is part of the champion team for the 100-meter men’s obstacle course relay event during the regional athletic meet held in Cambodia.

De Castro had been a PLM varsity team member in his undergraduate days and also served as a part-time faculty member at the College of Education.

De Castro secured the Philippines’ ninth gold medal so far in the 2023 SEA Games together with his teammates Ahgie Radan, Elias Tabac, and Mervin Guarte.

“Congratulations to Mr. De Castro and his teammates for proudly carrying the Philippine flag to victory! On behalf of the PLM community, let me express our gratitude for bringing pride to our beloved country,” University President Emmanuel Leyco said.

The 32nd SEA Games began on May 5 and will end on May 17, 2023. The regional multi-sport competition is held every two years.
