As a public university that commits itself to serving public interest, PLM recognizes the need to continue providing quality and uninterrupted education to all its students during the Enhanced Community Quarantine period. Alternative learning modalities are being explored and implemented to ensure that the students meet their academic and curricular requirements within the prescribed academic period.

Nevertheless, the University also recognizes the technical and logistical difficulties that faculty members and students encounter in the conduct of their online classes during the enhanced community quarantine. Forty-seven percent (47%) of PLM students do not have stable and reliable access to internet connection. At the same time, some faculty members encounter problems in conducting their classes online.

As the safety and well-being of our students and faculty members are our primary concern during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in order to observe fairness to all students, all online classes and other academic activities, including use of online platforms and online submission of written works and other outputs, in all undergraduate, graduate and professional courses, are hereby suspended until further notice. This is intended to give all faculty members and students time to attend to important personal and family matters during this health crisis.

PLM remains committed to providing the best education to all our students, and will issue additional guidelines on academic instruction once the COVID-19 situation in the country has stabilized.

All other orders, memoranda and issuances that are inconsistent with this Office Order, including Office Order No. 2020-0316-01, shall be deemed repealed, superseded or modified accordingly. This Office Order shall take effect immediately.
