PLM promotes 147 employees, regularizes 53 workers

To help alleviate the impact of the pandemic on its employees, some 200 PLM employees were granted promotions or security of tenure by the administration. Employees took a new oath of office on February 3, 2021 for their promoted or reclassified positions.

“Binabati namin ang lahat ng mga kawani sa kanilang mga bagong posisyon. Ito ay tanda ng pasasalamat ng Pamantasan sa inyong paglilingkod nang tapat at mahusay sa ating mga mag-aaral at komunidad,” President Leyco said in his speech.

The oath of office formalizes the regularization of 53 non-academic staff, the reclassification of 139 faculty members, and the promotion and retitling of 8 others.

President Leyco also unveiled additional benefits granted to members of the PLM community. He said the University will be distributing 2,000 smart tablets for students deemed to have the hardest time availing of the smart gadgets and keeping up with online learning, which has been the mode of instruction for nearly a year now due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Service Recognition Incentive and Gratuity Pay

PLM employees are also set to receive the Service Recognition Incentive for 2020, consistent with the national directive for all government employees. Full-time employees will receive up to P10,000, while contract of service and job order workers will get as much as P3,000 each, depending on the length of their service last year.

Internet Allowance

Meanwhile, the PLM Board of Regents has agreed in principle to provide internet allowance for faculty members to compensate for the added costs of facilitating virtual classes. The amount is yet to be finalized.

“We deeply value the hard work which our faculty and staff have poured into this ‘new normal’ in education, and this is how PLM shows its gratitude,” President Leyco added. “May you all continue to be passionate about our work and keep on guiding our students towards karunungan, kaunlaran, at kadakilaan.”
