Distinguished alumni of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila have been named as part of the new set of officers of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), a well-respected league for industry professionals, for the new fiscal year covering July 2020 to June 2021.
Mr. Michael C. Gallego (BSBA, cum laude, 1994) joined PICPA's national board of directors as regional director for Metro Manila and assumed the position as National Vice President for Public Practice, as well chair of the Metro Manila Region. Fellow PLM alumnus Mr. Francis J. Ricamora (BSA, magna cum laude, 1998) was named as Metro Manila Regional Sectoral Representative for Public Practice.
Gallego is currently the Advisory Services Partner and Knowledge Management Head of Punongbayan & Araullo (P&A Grant Thornton) and was Grant Thornton's Asia Pacific leader for business risk services. He previously served as president of the Institute of Internal Auditors Philippines and president of PICPA's Northern Metro Manila chapter. PICPA conferred upon him a Special Achievement Award in Professional Development in 2016 and was recognized as the Most Outstanding CPA in Public Practice in 2017.
On the other hand, Ricamora currently works as a tax partner in Ernst & Young Indonesia. He was previously a tax senior director, senior director, and tax partner at SGV & Co (Ernst and Young). He is actively involved in business tax advisory, business tax compliance, tax accounting and risk advisory, tax due diligence review, and tax seminars and trainings. PICPA awarded him the Young Achiever in Public Practice distinction in 2010.
Recognized for its leading-edge tertiary education, PLM takes pride in the accomplishments of its alumni, many of whom hailed from poor communities but have broken free and soared high, taking positions of responsibility across industries.
PLM is a partner of PICPA in its efforts at professionalizing its ranks through an off-campus Master in Business Administration degree program.
