The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) proudly congratulates Atty. Ernesto Maceda, Jr. and Professor Nelson Celis for their appointment to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Commissioner Maceda served as dean of the PLM College of Law from 2006 to 2015, and as executive vice president of the University from 2007 to 2009.

Atty. Maceda also taught subjects in other renowned law schools in the country. He is deemed an expert in election law, administrative law, and constitutional law.

Commissioner Maceda once served as a councilor of the City of Manila from 1988 to 1995.

Commissioner Celis is also a former Executive Vice President and Acting Vice President for Information and Communication Technology at PLM in 2016. He later on handled classes at the PLM Business School as Professor III.

Dr. Celis holds a doctorate degree in business administration from the De La Salle University. He was appointed by President Bongbong Marcos to the poll body earlier this year and has been reappointed pending confirmation from Congress’ Commission on Appointments.

“Congratulations to Commissioners Maceda and Celis! We are confident that they can ably fulfill their duties at the Commission on Elections given their knowledge of the law and track record in public service,” PLM President Emmanuel Leyco said. They join fellow PLM professor, former Regent and now Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia in the seven-member Comelec en banc.
